What a weekend! Our Chair of Trustees ran over 26 miles to raise funds for DADLG!

Whilst most of us were enjoying a lazy Sunday this week, one person was doing anything but. On Sunday 2nd November our Chair of Trustees Christina Toner ran the New York marathon to raise vital funds for DADLG. She ran a staggering 26.2 miles in just 6 hours and 2 minutes – an astonishing feat of endurance for a mum of 3 just back to work from maternity leave!
Starting bright and early from Staten Island, Christina joined athletes such as British long distance champion Patrick Denver on the iconic 26.2 mile course from the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge to the cheering crowds in Central Park. She was supported by her entire family, who self-funded the Marathon and the trip so that every penny raised would go to DADLG.
We cannot thank Christina enough for her tireless dedication to DADLG’s cause, as a parent, as a trustee and as a fundraiser. We’re hoping she gets the chance to relax and see the sights in New York – a well-deserved rest and reward for her amazing effort.
Christina has been raising funds through JustGiving and has reached over 70% of her target of £1000. These vital funds will make an enormous difference to DADLG’s work by helping us to increase capacity and provide more of the activities that mean so much to DADLG’s members and their families.
It’s not too late to show your appreciation to Christina and support DADLG at the same time. You can donate by visiting her dedicated marathon page at https://www.justgiving.com/page/christina-toner-2
