Durham Area Disability Leisure Group began with a group of parents disappointed by the lack of sporting and social opportunities for their children. Between them they organised several events and were amazed at the response from parents in similar situations.
Fast forward a few years and this small group went on to employ part-time staff to help develop the group and provide even more events and activities for children and young people with disabilities to enjoy and have fun.
Fourteen years on and dadlg is still going strong…
'To provide sports, leisure and social opportunities for children and young people with disabilities living within Durham and surrounding areas.'
Dadlg have a fundamental belief that leisure is an important part every young person’s life and is vital to the process of human development. It provides a mechanism for individuals to explore the world around them and a medium through which skills are developed and practiced.
